'BAMBI'S NIGHTMARE'

The pub radiator or a nice cup of tea seemed to be the order of the day during the Christmas period in UK and Ireland this year.

Snow, Ice and freezing fog cripled nearly every corner of Britain with Ireland seeing the biggest snowfall they have had in years.

I was lucky enough to see four cities in twelve days without a delay or cancellation. My shockingly cold adventure took me to Dublin, London, Blackpool/Preston and Glasgow. However, my luck was not held by everybody...

- Belfast felt a -19 and the most black ice recorded in decades

- Strathclyde police reported that the snow and ice on some roads was breaking the blades on snow ploughs

- Thousands of flights canceled and most airports were closed for numerous days in a row

- The start of December saw much of Central Scotlands road network come to a standstill with the closure of the M8, M9 and A90. People slept in their cars and others abandoned the vehicles and walked to the nearest shelter. The transport minister Stewart Stevenson resigned over his handling of the weather chaos.

- A women in Sutherland who set out for Inverness on December 19th to buy a xmas turkey, still hasn't managed to get home (6th Jan)
